Meeting
with representatives of the Montenegrin
hospitality industry
During the Tourism Fair METUBES 2007 in
Budva, the Board of directors of the Balkan
Alliance of Hotel Associations had a meeting
with the hoteliers and restaurateurs from
Montenegro. The main topic of this meeting
was the problems with which the colleagues
from Montenegro encounter with and
comparison of the problems of the
hospitality business in Montenegro with the
problems of the hospitality business in the
other BAHA countries
The colleagues from Montenegro stated that
as an association at this moment they’re
working on gathering the financial data from
the members of the association in order to
approach the Government with strong
arguments. The data they’re gathering is:
amount of paid VAT by all members for 2006,
the amount of all the employment taxes the
members have paid in 2006, the amount of the
income and personal taxes and the total
amount of gross turnover realized in 2006.
They will present these parameters which
show the significance of the hospitality
business on the scheduled meetings with the
Minister of tourism, the Minister of
finance, the banks and the major trading
houses in Montenegro. Their goals are:
-
With the government institutions and the
ministers - to show them that they present
a major segment in the state as an
Association, to demand alleviation and
support in projects, among which the most
important is the support of bringing low
cost carrier on the Montenegro airports.
-
With the banks - they will discuss
approving of favorable credits, and
choosing one bank with which all the
members will cooperate with as a partner
and will be receiving suitable long term
loans, short term loans with low interest
rates, a low provision percentage of
1%-2,5% on the credit cards payments.
-
With the suppliers - to obtain better
conditions and prices for all members of
the association by the companies with
which the Association will sign special
contracts.
The Montenegrin Association has also made a
decision to choose a booking house and work
on arrangements, after the example of the
Macedonian Hotel Association. It is a final
goal for all BAHA members to take the same
approach and finally all the individual
arrangements to be put together and be sold
in packages with a number of countries
included as a destination.
The Montenegrin Hotel Association had the
pleasure of informing us that for this year
70% of their capacities have been booked,
through allotments or fixed rental.
The president of the Serbian Association of
Hotels and Restaurants informed us that he
has started negotiations with JAT, at first
for HORES to receive beneficiary prices on
the airfares for forming special
arrangements, and as soon as he brings the
negotiations to an end, and the contracts
are signed, the same will be passed on to
the other members of BAHA for them to be
able to take advantage of them as well.
